    Clinical Meditation and Imagery Training

    Based on meditation research, the latest neuroscience is describing the awakening of higher brain states which release the emotions of joy, interconnectedness and oneness and calm the lower, fear-based brain. Concurrently, major medical schools, including NYU, Harvard, Oxford, Yale, and Stanford, are opening psychedelic medicine centers to study and administer psychedelic drugs such as psilocybin to induce spiritual states and reduce fear in medical (cancer, addiction, depression) patients. Mental health counselors need to be aware of these developments as they point to a new frontier in counseling—how to awaken these beneficial states in clients without the use of drugs. This webinar will include case studies and practical methods.

    WHAT: Structural racism permeates every element of society, but one effect of it which is perhaps less commonly spoken about has to do with finances. In 2016, the average net worth of an American black family was nearly ten times less than that of a white one – clearly indicating the existence of a racial wealth gap.

    Participants in this class will learn more about this disparity, examine other examples of it, and determine ways in which it might be eliminated.

    This course is hosted on Teachable - registrants will be sent an access link when it launches April 2 - onward, enrollment will be open until April 30

    A Wellness Wednesday yoga and reflective writing experience with Anderson "Poetically Undefined" Allen.

    ALL BODIES AND ALL LEVELS WELCOME!

    WHAT TO EXPECT:

    Scribe and Move is a yoga and reflective writing experience that actively uses both mind and body to engage the spirit. Each session will be guided by foundational principles from the Yoga Sutras, various forms of meditation, or may be led by a single word or mantra to explore the symbiotic relationship between body movement and the word.

    Simply put, we'll use the word to guide us to movement and allow the movement to inspire our words.

    SESSION FORMAT:

    45 minute themed yoga practice followed by a 45 minute reflective writing session inspired by your yoga practice.

    *Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal or notebook. Sanitized mats are available. Social distance encouraged.

    FREE. Open to public. Donations always welcome!

    RSVP and masks required entering the for all. Please do not come to class if you feel sick or have been in contact with anyone with a positive COVID case. Thank you for help keeping us safe and open to all.

    ABOUT THE SPACE:

    The Avenue is fully accessible by wheelchair throughout space and through front door (door is manually operated but receptionist present at all times to assist). We are a volunteer space and very sorry we do not have ASL interpreters on staff. We will do our best to contract interpreters if you don't mind giving us a little notice.
